Wonderboy Makhubu Returns to Sekhukhune United for 2025/26 Season

Wonderboy Makhubu is officially back at Sekhukhune United and will be part of their squad for the upcoming 2025/26 season, after spending the previous campaign on loan at fellow Limpopo side Magesi FC.
The 28-year-old striker made a solid impact during his loan spell, scoring three goals in 16 Betway Premiership appearances. Notably, he played a key role in helping Magesi lift the Carling Knockout Cup in their debut season in South Africa’s top flight. His performances have earned him a recall to Sekhukhune, with his agent, Pontsho Madumo, confirming the news.
“He was only on loan to Magesi. He is still under contract with Sekhukhune United. The club has recalled him and he will rejoin them for the pre-season,” said Madumo.
Makhubu’s return comes at a pivotal time for Sekhukhune, popularly known as Babina Noko, who are looking to bolster their attacking options. The club has seen the departure of Thabang Sibanyoni, who has returned to Mamelodi Sundowns after completing his loan spell, leaving a gap in their frontline.
With Makhubu’s proven ability and familiarity with the squad, he could be a key figure for Sekhukhune in the new campaign. The club has also made moves in the transfer market, recently signing experienced midfielder Miguel Timm following his exit from Orlando Pirates.
Having finished fourth in the Betway Premiership last season, Sekhukhune United has qualified for the MTN 8 tournament, setting the stage for an exciting 2025/26 campaign. Makhubu’s return is expected to add depth and experience to a side aiming for both domestic glory and a strong cup run.
