Kaizer Chiefs Set for Exit Talks with Forgotten Midfielder Mdantsane

Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung is reportedly preparing for a crucial meeting with midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane, whose limited impact and lack of game-time at Naturena has made his exit from the club all but certain.
The 30-year-old midfielder joined Amakhosi from Cape Town City in June 2023 in a deal believed to be worth R3.5 million. Expectations were high when Mdantsane made the switch to Soweto, but the move hasn’t gone according to plan. After struggling to secure regular playing time, he was loaned out to Richards Bay FC in January 2025, signaling that his time at the club was winding down.
With the current season wrapped up and Kaizer Chiefs undergoing a squad reshuffle, Mdantsane finds himself among the players heading out of the Naturena gates. Sources close to the club confirm that a formal farewell is being planned, with Motaung expected to meet the player before week’s end to conclude his chapter at Chiefs with dignity and professionalism.
“They are still finalizing a few things before Kaizer Chiefs announce his departure. The club is set to meet the player before the end of this week to shake hands and do a proper farewell,” revealed a source familiar with the matter.
Mdantsane now joins fellow departees Ranga Chivaviro and Sabelo Radebe, whose exits mark a continued shift at the club as they seek to rebuild after a disappointing ninth-place finish in the Betway Premiership last season.
Meanwhile, the club is also preparing to bolster its ranks with the arrival of Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane from arch-rivals Orlando Pirates. The move signals Kaizer Chiefs’ intent to strengthen their squad ahead of what they hope will be a comeback season.
Amakhosi’s pre-season programme is set to take them to the Netherlands from 3 to 19 July, where new signings will have the chance to integrate into the squad and technical staff will assess the group ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Mdantsane’s brief stay at Chiefs may not have unfolded as planned, but his departure opens a door for both player and club to pursue fresh opportunities as the rebuilding process continues at Naturena.
