Kaizer Chiefs Confirm Mduduzi Mdantsane Exit as Squad Reshuffle Continues Ahead of European Pre-Season
Kaizer Chiefs have continued their off-season squad overhaul with the confirmed departure of attacking midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane. The 30-year-old becomes the fifth player released by the club ahead of their much-anticipated pre-season camp in Europe.
The club made the announcement via its official website on Monday morning, as part of an ongoing reshuffle intended to rejuvenate the squad following a disappointing campaign. Mdantsane’s exit follows those of Ranga Chivaviro, Sabelo Radebe, and Edmilson Dove, all of whom were confirmed in recent weeks.
Mdantsane’s return to Naturena at the start of the 2023/24 season was meant to reignite his career, but the reunion was marred by injuries and setbacks. Although he featured in 16 matches during the campaign, his momentum was derailed by recurring fitness issues. He spent the final six months of last season on loan at Richards Bay FC, where he made just three appearances due to limited game-time.
His situation took a dramatic turn when he was involved in a motor vehicle accident, which required surgery on his jaw and sidelined him for the entire first half of the 2024/25 season. These cumulative challenges ultimately influenced the club’s decision to cut ties, with one year still remaining on his three-year contract.
Despite the difficult stint, Mdantsane leaves with fond memories of donning the Amakhosi jersey again, having started his professional journey at the club’s youth structures before making his name elsewhere in the Premiership.
Meanwhile, the Naturena-based side has already reported back to the Village for the initial phase of their pre-season training. The squad is set to jet off to the Netherlands on July 3, where they will engage in a European pre-season tour designed to prepare the team for the new season under fresh guidance and a renewed tactical approach.
Kaizer Chiefs are expected to make further adjustments to the squad in the coming weeks, as the club aims to restore its status as a dominant force in South African football.
