Kaizer Chiefs’ marketing and commercial director Jessica Motaung emphasized the importance of Moses Mabhida Stadium in the club’s ongoing journey. “We are honoured to welcome our friends from Ghana to South African soil. Asante Kotoko are part of our shared history. The Toyota Cup allows Africa to unite through football and is a celebration of our legacy,” she said.

“Durban is not only the manufacturing hub of Toyota South Africa, but a perfect place to write the next chapter of our history after winning the Nedbank Cup in May at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.”

The upcoming match marks another chapter in a growing tradition. The Toyota Cup was launched in 2024, debuting with a clash between Chiefs and Tanzanian giants Young African SC in Bloemfontein. eThekwini mayor Cyril Xaba welcomed Chiefs’ return, highlighting the city’s readiness to deliver a world-class event. “It also demonstrates that we continue to be the premier destination for events, conferences and entertainment. We want to assure both teams and supporters who will be attending the event that we are ready to host them. We will put all necessary measures in place to ensure that we deliver a successful event,” he said.
