Mamelodi Sundowns Confirm Further Squad Changes with Five More Player Departures

Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the exit of five more players, adding to the two departures already announced over the weekend, as the Betway Premiership champions continue reshaping their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.
In an official statement posted across their social media platforms on 7 July 2025, Sundowns revealed that Sifiso Ngobeni, Sanele Tshabalala, Thabang Sibanyoni, Lucas Ribeiro Suarez, and Sifiso Mbule will no longer be part of the team moving forward.
“Mamelodi Sundowns announces the departure of the following players. The Club thanks them for their dedication and contribution. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours,” the club posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Among the names listed, Sifiso Mbule has already found a new home. The talented midfielder has been officially unveiled by Orlando Pirates, setting up an exciting new chapter in his career as he joins the Soweto giants.
Thabang Sibanyoni and Sifiso Ngobeni both spent last season on loan, at Magesi FC and AmaZulu respectively. Their exits come as little surprise as the club continues to trim its squad and create space for new additions.
Lucas Ribeiro Suarez, who spent the season on loan, also leaves following earlier confirmation by head coach Miguel Cardoso that the Brazilian would not be retained. Sanele Tshabalala, who joined the Brazilians from Moroka Swallows in 2023, struggled to make an impact and now departs without having secured a regular place in the squad.
These exits follow shortly after the departures of Rivaldo Coetzee and Lebohang Maboe, two long-serving midfielders who were released as the club signaled a major shift in its squad planning.
With several outgoings now confirmed, Sundowns are expected to begin unveiling new signings in the coming days as part of their preparation for the 2025/26 campaign. The club recently returned from FIFA Club World Cup duties and is reportedly set to begin pre-season training on 21 July, with this year’s camp expected to take place locally.
All eyes will now be on Chloorkop as the CAF Champions League finalists gear up for another season of high expectations, both domestically and on the continent.
