Dzenan Zajmovic Keen to Continue in South Africa’s Betway Premiership Amid Family Visa Challenges

Bosnian-Belgian striker Dzenan Zajmovic has expressed a strong desire to continue his career in South Africa’s Betway Premiership, despite recent visa complications affecting his family. After a prolific debut season with Cape Town Galaxy, where he netted 11 goals, the 30-year-old forward recently confirmed his departure from the club but remains hopeful about staying in the league.
Zajmovic joined Galaxy in September 2024 on a two-year deal with an option for an additional year. However, just two days ago, he mutually terminated his contract. Speaking exclusively to KickOff.com from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Zajmovic revealed that two PSL clubs have already shown interest in securing his services.
“South Africa is a nice country with a good league, and I would love to continue playing there at a new club,” said Zajmovic. “I felt at home and will never shut a door for anything to do with South Africa, and my wife and kids know about it. It was an amazing experience being in South Africa. Football was good, and the life was also the same, so there was a connection to being in a good mental space and playing football.”
While his footballing experience was positive, Zajmovic’s family faced significant hurdles with the visa process. “Unfortunately, there were issues with visas for my wife and my two kids. It was complicated, but I hope it will be fixed,” he explained. “There was an issue, but I don’t want to drop names of people here even though I paid the money for the process. Fact is that someone didn’t do the job well. The visa agent took a big amount of money from my pocket and didn’t do a thing, but maybe there could be an option B to get the visa fixed for my family.”
Zajmovic highlighted that having Belgian (European Union) passports for his family should have made the visa process easier, but complications persisted. “So, I don’t know because it is supposed to be an easier process when you have Belgian passports, which my family use.”
He added that if continuing in South Africa proves impossible due to these off-field issues, he will consider other opportunities. “If South Africa doesn’t work out, then I must consider other plans. I have explained the same thing to the two clubs that have approached me,” Zajmovic said.
Born in Belgium but of Bosnian origin, Zajmovic’s performances in his first South African season marked him as one of the league’s promising attackers. As he navigates his next move, many PSL fans will hope to see him continue his journey in the Betway Premiership, where his talent and experience have already made a strong impression.
