Ndumiso Mabena Set for PSL Return with Bees FC at 38

At 38 years old, former Orlando Pirates striker Ndumiso Mabena is poised for a return to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) as he approaches the final stages of his playing career.

Bees FC from Mpumalanga recently secured promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship after finishing as runners-up to Gomora United in the ABC Motsepe League national playoffs. The club is now targeting Mabena to strengthen their squad.

Sources reveal that Bees FC, coached by former Kaizer Chiefs player Humphrey Mlwane, plans to offer Mabena a one-year contract through the end of the season. This deal would mark a second chance for Mabena, who has been a free agent since parting ways with Leruma United. Leruma was relegated from the second tier last season, leaving Mabena without a club.

Known as ‘Madala’, Mabena brings vast experience. His career includes stints at Platinum Stars, Bloemfontein Celtic, Royal AM, Polokwane City, and of course, Orlando Pirates. Despite his age, his skills and leadership are expected to help Bees FC maintain their place in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Bees FC’s season kicks off on August 24 against Baroka FC at KaNyamazane Stadium. Mabena’s signing signals the club’s ambition to compete strongly and avoid immediate relegation.

This move could extend Mabena’s career while providing Bees FC with a seasoned striker who understands the demands of South African football at multiple levels.
