Orlando Pirates Key Players Return to Training Ahead of MTN8 Final

Orlando Pirates received a boost on Tuesday morning as three important players participated in training ahead of this weekend’s MTN8 final against Stellenbosch FC at Mbombela Stadium. The match is a repeat of last season’s final, and the returning players could strengthen the Buccaneers’ chances of winning the trophy for a fourth consecutive year.

Midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi joined the session after being withdrawn from the Bafana Bafana squad. He had been replaced by Sipho Mbule but appeared fully fit in training, making him a strong candidate for selection this weekend.

Captain Nkosinathi Sibisi, who has been sidelined for several weeks, also took part in training. Sibisi missed the Bafana squad due to injury but looked lively and ready as Pirates continued preparations. In his absence, Lebone Seema and Mbekezeli Mbokazi have been filling in at centre back. It remains to be seen whether head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou will reinstate Sibisi for the final or continue with the promising duo who have performed well over recent weeks.

Reigning Betway Premiership midfielder of the season Makhehlene Makhaula also featured in training. He has not yet appeared this season but showed no discomfort, signaling his intent to earn a spot in the matchday squad.

Defender Thabiso Sesane, recovering from an injury sustained last season, was also part of the preparations on Monday. Competition for places is intense, and Sesane may need more time before returning to the starting lineup.

Notable absentees during the session were Tapelo Xoki and Olisa Ndah, who remain unavailable. The return of Maswanganyi, Sibisi, and Makhaula gives Pirates a potential edge as they aim to defend their MTN8 crown against a determined Stellenbosch side.
