Kaizer Chiefs Face Another Tough Test at Home Against Siwelele FC

Kaizer Chiefs will return to FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening for their Betway Premiership clash against Siwelele FC, hoping to end a worrying trend that has haunted them in recent seasons. Kick-off is set for 19:30.
While home matches are usually an advantage for most teams, the iconic Nasrec venue has not been kind to Amakhosi. In their last 50 fixtures at FNB Stadium, Chiefs have suffered 18 defeats compared to 17 victories. This poor record has turned what should be a fortress into a place of frustration for both players and fans. Visiting teams now arrive in Johannesburg with confidence, knowing that Chiefs have struggled to impose dominance on home soil.
A major part of the problem lies in their attacking form. Chiefs have gone 11 matches without scoring more than once in a single game. Their last brace came in the opening fixture of the season ten weeks ago. In total, they have managed just seven goals in over 1020 minutes of football, averaging a goal every 146 minutes. For a club that aims to challenge the league’s top sides, these numbers expose a lack of cutting edge up front.
Co-coach Cedric Kaze has acknowledged the team’s issues in front of goal but insists that confidence is the main factor holding them back.
“The things that I believe we have to work more on is our confidence because the situation of scoring, we get them,” said Kaze. “There is no issue with the last pass or the last decision-making for the pass. But we need to raise our awareness in front of the net. We need to be hungry for the ball and put numbers in the box.”
Kaze also pointed out the mental strain players face when they are harshly criticised after missing chances. “Sometimes a player misses a goal and the next day on social media, they are just killing him,” he explained. “That takes a lot of time to build back the confidence. But we need to be strong mentally because this is a big club and there is nothing we can do. We have to understand the importance of everything we do and keep going.”
Chiefs enter the midweek clash under pressure to deliver a result that can restore belief among supporters and keep them within reach of the leading pack in the Premiership. Siwelele FC, on the other hand, will look to exploit Chiefs’ struggles and add to their frustrations.
For Amakhosi, Wednesday’s match is more than just another league fixture. It is a chance to reclaim control of their home ground and prove that they can turn dominance into goals.
