Kaizer Chiefs Shine as Rivals Slip Up in Betway Premiership Matchday 11

Kaizer Chiefs emerged as the biggest winners in matchday 11 of the Betway Premiership after a dramatic weekend of football that saw Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Sekhukhune United all drop points. The results have reshaped the top of the table, tightening the race for the league title.

Chiefs began the weekend with a crucial 1-0 win over Durban City in eThekwini. Flavio Silva struck late to secure all three points, pushing Amakhosi to fourth place in the standings. The result leaves them just three points behind leaders Sundowns, keeping their title hopes alive heading into the mid-season stretch.

Sundowns missed a chance to extend their lead when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Orlando Pirates in Tshwane. Peter Shalulile gave the home side the lead, but Pirates hit back through Cemran Dansin to claim a point. The Buccaneers remain level on points with Chiefs in third place and still have a game in hand. The result exposed Sundowns’ growing vulnerability after a strong start to the season.

Sekhukhune United suffered a setback in Bloemfontein, losing 1-0 to Siwelele FC. The hosts sealed the victory with a composed second-half finish from 20-year-old Siviwe Magidigidi, who continues to impress after breaking into the first team. The defeat left Sekhukhune stuck in third place, missing a chance to move within touching distance of the league leaders.

AmaZulu closed in on the top four after a dominant 3-0 win over struggling Chippa United in East London. Hendrick Ekstein netted twice while Athini Maqokolo added a third to seal the result. AmaZulu now sit fifth in the standings and look poised to challenge for a top-four finish.

In Rustenburg, Orbit College made history by winning consecutive top-flight matches for the first time. Monnapule Saleng delivered a standout performance, leading his side to a 3-1 victory over Magesi FC. Orbit’s rise has been one of the early success stories of the season.

Sunday’s fixtures saw TS Galaxy continue their strong form with a 2-0 win over Stellenbosch FC in Mbombela. Selukelo Mahlambi opened the scoring before an own-goal from Sanele Barns sealed the points. Stellenbosch’s struggles continue, leaving them hovering near the bottom half of the table.

Golden Arrows ended the weekend with a statement performance, crushing Marumo Gallants 4-0 in Durban. Substitute Thokozani Khumalo made an immediate impact, scoring twice and assisting another to help Arrows climb into the top eight.
