TS Galaxy Coach Adnan Beganovic Gives Honest Update on Phakamani Mahlambi

TS Galaxy head coach Adnan Beganovic has given a candid update on the situation surrounding Phakamani Mahlambi, who has been training with the club as he attempts to revive his professional career. The 28 year old attacking midfielder has been without a club since a short spell at Chippa United in 2021 and has been working with the Rockets since November last year. Mahlambi, once regarded as one of South African football’s brightest talents, has been searching for an opportunity to return to top level football after several difficult years away from regular action.
Speaking after TS Galaxy’s 3-2 defeat to AmaZulu FC, Beganovic explained that Mahlambi’s recent absence from training was due to personal reasons. He revealed that the midfielder had suffered a loss in his family and had to attend a funeral. Beganovic made it clear that the next step depends largely on the player himself and his commitment to regaining full fitness. He stressed that Mahlambi must take responsibility for fixing his body if he wants to return as a professional footballer.
The TS Galaxy coach also acknowledged how challenging the road back will be for the former Mamelodi Sundowns star. Beganovic admitted that it is never easy for a player to return to a previous level after losing rhythm and physical conditioning over several years. He explained that rebuilding the connection with one’s body takes time, discipline, and sacrifice. According to Beganovic, Mahlambi faces a tough and demanding journey if he hopes to rediscover the form that once made him a standout talent in South African football.
