A Clash Against Highlands Park Is Next For Masandawana

The fixtures are coming thick and fast and today Mamelodi Sundowns take on Highlands Park at Dobsonville Stadium at 18:00. It’s an away game at our adopted home as we are sharing the venue with the Lions of the North.

Coach Pitso Mosimane said that, “we are stagnant in the league with results as we are in the same position, we have not moved down nor have we moved up. The only challenge is that the number of games left to play is getting smaller.”

The Brazilians have already played the Tembisa based outfit twice this campaign and won both encounters by one goal to zero. This is the third game in space of a week for the Brazilians who have not lost a game. The last time the two sides met was in the Nedbank Cup last 8 clash at the Makhulong Stadium. “You can ask any team in the PSL, Highlands are tough customers, it’s also a giant killer, a team that is very strong, works very hard, is very committed and we all know that you really earn your win. Sometimes with Highlands, it’s more than tactics,” said Coach Pitso Mosimane.

Seven games have been played, Mamelodi Sundowns have won five, drawn two and have had no losses. Highlands Park is currently occupying eighth spot on the log standings with thirty-one points. The Brazilians are still number two, four points behind log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

“The record is good against Highlands but we have to be honest, in football past records don’t really matter, they can give you an advantage or a psychological advantage but each and every game is a new game.”
