Abdeslam Ouaddou Pleased as Orlando Pirates Record Sixth Consecutive League Win

Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has expressed his satisfaction after the Soweto giants secured a 1-0 victory over Polokwane City at Orlando Stadium, marking their sixth consecutive league win. Tshepang Moremi’s early strike proved decisive, highlighting the team’s growing cohesion and tactical discipline.

Ouaddou revealed that the goal was a direct result of their training methodology. “My methodology of training is based on tactical periodisation, where since Monday until Friday, we review all the phases of the game,” he explained. He emphasised the importance of preparing players to recognise game situations and respond effectively.

“We are training the brain. We are training the body. This goal that we have scored is a repetition of exercises and repetition of games under pressure with constraints. So, I’m happy as a coach when you see the things that you are working on happen in the game. So, ja, it was a good goal,” Ouaddou added.

The win moves Pirates to within three points of league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, with the advantage of two games in hand. The team’s current form has reignited title hopes, with consistency and teamwork emerging as key strengths.

“This is the work of everybody, and what I love at Orlando Pirates is that we are working as a unit. It is like a family. The consistency that you are seeing now is the fruits of the work of everybody at the club, and I hope it will continue like that,” said Ouaddou.
