Kaizer Chiefs Eye Congolese-Based Striker Ravel Djoumekou in Ongoing Striker Hunt

Kaizer Chiefs’ pursuit of more firepower ahead of the 2025/26 DStv Premiership season has taken an intriguing new direction, with a Congolese-based forward emerging as a fresh name on the club’s radar. As Amakhosi intensify efforts to solve their long-standing goal-scoring issues, 25-year-old Cameroonian striker Ravel Djoumekou is reportedly being considered as a potential solution.

According to sources close to the situation, Djoumekou—currently playing for FC Saint Eloi Lupopo in the Democratic Republic of Congo—has been offered to the Chiefs recruitment team. His name is now part of an ongoing evaluation process as the Soweto giants seek to bolster their attacking ranks.

“He is an experienced striker who could really help Chiefs at this stage,” a source told the Siya crew. “He has been offered to Chiefs in their quest to sign a striker, and now it’s up to Chiefs’ scouts and analysts to assess him and make a decision after that. But if they choose to go ahead, then he would be available.”

The Cameroonian forward has made a name for himself in the DR Congo top flight, known for his physical presence, movement in the box, and ability to finish under pressure. These are exactly the qualities Kaizer Chiefs are looking for as they aim to find a dependable number nine.

Despite having already secured a few key signings in this transfer window, Chiefs are far from done. Another source close to the club confirmed that more names are still being looked at and that recruitment is ongoing behind the scenes.

“Of course, the club hasn’t finished signings yet. They are still looking at other players. Some you may know, others you may not know,” the insider shared with Soccer Laduma. “So if this striker is as good as they say, then the club would be considering him as well.”

Chiefs have already brought in fresh talent, with names like Asanele Velebayi, Etiosa Ighodaro, Dzenan Zajmovic, and Luke Baartman all linked to Naturena. However, the goal remains clear—identify and secure a striker who can consistently deliver goals across the season.

With the new campaign fast approaching and coach Nasreddine Nabi shaping his squad, the pressure is on to find the right fit up front. Whether Ravel Djoumekou becomes the next big name to join the Amakhosi revival remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Kaizer Chiefs are leaving no stone unturned in their mission to return to the top.
