Ivory Coast will take on Egypt in their AFCON tie this evening. They are looking forward to what will be a very difficult game for both sides.

Ivory Coast and Egypt are two of the most successful nations in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations. They both would have expected to meet each other at a later stage of the tournament.

However, with Egypt not being at their best in the group stages, their finishing is what led to this match.

“This outsider status suits us very well; we know where we are going.” Cote d’Ivoire coach Patrice Beaumelle said to the press.

“We are happy to have finished first in our group, now that is behind us because we will face a great team from Egypt with players who are used to playing in Africa.

“This will be a tactical match, closed but very exciting. The most important thing is that we want to continue our way”

Although claiming to be outsiders, Ivory Coast have the better players going into this tie. They stand a better chance of qualifying that their North African rivals.
