Amajita look to MDC for AFCON
South Africa Under-20 team is in full steam preparations for the AFCON U-20 to be held in Zambia from the 26 of February 2017. While PSL teams have refused to let players go to camp for preparations for AFCON , Amajita coach Thabo Senong has turned his head to get players in the PSL reserve league, Multichoice Diski Challenge.
Regular players in the Amajita squad like Phakamani Mahlambi and Reeve Frosler both from Wits have not been released by Bidvest Wits. This is disappointing that national team is undermined by local teams.
The issue with releasing players is not a challenged faced by Amajita only but this has been a ripple effect from Bafana Bafana as well. It is something that South African Football Association (SAFA) is still yet to address.
“National pride should override local pride. We however are thankful that MDC players are motivated and keen to take on the national jersey and represent the country. Those who come back will have to fight for a place in the team” said Senong. The coach has taken a vow to bring the best out of the players and to fly the South African flag high.
