Amakhosi mixed bag of fortunes weekend

Kaizer Chiefs Reserve Team played to a 2-2 draw against Royal AM in Round 10 of the 2023/24 DStv Diski Challenge (DDC).

The game took place at the Harry Gwala stadium in Pietermaritzburg, KZN province last Sunday.

The result takes AMAKHOSIi up to 19 points. This keeps Chiefs in 3rd place, four points behind the leaders of the national Under 23 league competition.

Chiefs next match will be against host Cape Town City on Sunday, 19 November.

In other developments, the SAFA Gauteng Development League (GDL) Youth Cup, AMAKHOSI Under 13s progressed to the next round after beating Rosina Sedibane 2-1. 

The Under 17s also won against Rosina 6-3. 

But unfortunately for the Under 15s, their cup run was ended when they lost 4-2 to Rosina in a penalty shootout, following a 1-1 draw.

And the Under 19s restored some joy by keeping their hopes alive with a 4-3 win over Young Boys, and taking a step closer to glory, noted the Club.

The First Team lost 1-0 to archrivals Orlando Pirates in the DStv Premiership clash at FNB stadium on Saturday afternoon. This was the 179th derby meeting between the two.

Meanwhile, Dr. Kaizer Motaung was officially inducted into The South African Hall of Fame in Johannesburg on Thursday, 9 November last week.

According to Chiefs, distinguished guests from the spheres of sports, entertainment, and government convened to honour an individual whose impact on football and the broader sports community in South Africa is immeasurable.
