This news comes after a season of mixed results under Cavin Johnson, who took temporary charge following the departure of Molefi Ntseki in October 2023. While Johnson initially showed promise, recent performances have fallen short of the club’s expectations.

Motaung Jr. emphasized that the coaching change is part of a broader plan to revamp the technical structure at Kaizer Chiefs. “There is definitely, it’s something we communicated from the onset — Cavin has stepped in on an interim basis and we’re committed to having a different technical structure next season,” he told TimesLive.

“I know we are focused on the next game and the next seven games and we have everything to play for. But yes, definitely the plans have long been in motion — we’ll be having a different technical structure next season.”

With a focus on overhauling the technical setup of the football club, Kaizer Motaung Jr. disclosed that they’ve been actively scouting coaches since Johnson assumed the helm. “Well, you know, it’s our shortlist but who makes that shortlist? From our side we’ve been preparing for a while now and at the appropriate time we’ll make the right announcements,” he said.
