Amakhosi Sues Dj Sbu After He Used Their Name & Players To Promote His Energy Drink
We have just discovered that Kaizer Chiefs is suing Dj Sbu, the controversial artist and business man for ambush marketing. This was after he used the Amakhosi name and three of their players to promote his drink. Dj Sbu who his real name is Sibusiso Leope has allegedly hoodwinked Chiefs players into posing for a picture with him wearing Mofaya promotional T-shirts.
The picture circulated on various social networks to help promote the product, on the picture Masilela is holding a pack of Mofaya drinks. Muso apparently announced that the drink was being used by the players to give them energy. This stunt angered the marketing manager Jessica Motaung who demanded a disciplinary hearing for the three players.
Chiefs PR manager Vina Maphosa refused to give details on the matter. “The matter is at a stage where we are unable to comment” he said.
Dj Sbu declined to comment when he was contact. Two independent sources who didn’t want to be named say that the club fined the players and were litigating against the former Metro FM presenter.
“Dj Sbu apparently tweeted that the club was supporting the drink and the players were using it.” says the source.
The players were addressed in the disciplinary hearing and they were fined and we hear the amount was a huge amount. We are not sure what the outcome was but Chiefs have spoken to their lawyers about the photo and will follow their advice.
