AmaZulu Seal KwaZulu-Natal Derby Victory Over Golden Arrows

AmaZulu secured a 1-0 win against Golden Arrows in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday evening. The result gave Usuthu the derby edge and pushed them into third place on the log. Both teams created important chances, but AmaZulu showed stronger efficiency in key moments.
Golden Arrows made two changes. Keean Phillips and Angelo Van Rooi returned to the starting team. AmaZulu brought back Tebogo Mashigo who replaced Hendrick Ekstein. The match opened at a fast pace. Golden Arrows pushed forward early through top scorer Sede Dion. He connected with a cross from Isaac Cisse in the third minute. His header went wide.
AmaZulu responded in the tenth minute. Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya found Athini Maqokolo with a direct ball. Maqokolo forced Xola Ngcobo into a strong save at close range. The game shifted again when Darren Johnson picked up an injury. Olwethu Mzimela replaced him in the 27th minute.
Golden Arrows earned a penalty just before halftime after Siyanda Mthanti was fouled. Dion stepped up to take it. His shot hit the crossbar and went out. The miss changed the momentum.
AmaZulu took the lead in the 55th minute through Riaan Hanamub. He hit a long range strike that left Ngcobo with no chance. The goal lifted Usuthu and forced Arrows to chase the match.
Arrows created pressure through Van Rooi and Nqubeko Dlamini. Both had shots around the area, but none found the target. Van Rooi came close again in the final stages after receiving a long ball. Mzimela blocked his attempt.
Ekstein tried to stretch the lead with a shot from outside the box. His effort went wide. Arrows pushed for an equaliser through Van Rooi who kept testing the AmaZulu defence. Usuthu stayed organised and closed the match with controlled defending.
AmaZulu showed stronger decision making in front of goal and used their chances with precision. Arrows created more openings but lacked finishing accuracy. The derby result gives AmaZulu important momentum and strengthens their league position.
