Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez gave Inter the lead in the opening 10 minutes of the game. However, the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace to turn the tie on its head.
The semi-finals are in the midway point at this juncture, with the second leg set to take place next week. This time it will be Juve playing host to Antonio Conte’s men.
“We weren’t ourselves when we played Inter in the league but we learnt from it. We all pulled together after that and our Super Cup win made us realise we can compete on all fronts. However, we haven’t done anything yet – we’ve only won the first round.” Pirlo told the media after the match.
“We prepared for this game well and when we maintain our focus and play with the right attitude, we’re a tough proposition for anyone, though it’s not easy to play like this all the time with so many games back to back. In any case, we have a strong squad and I have no problem rotating.
“We dropped off a little after the break and Inter deserve some of the credit for that but it’s normal over the 90 minutes.
“Ronaldo had an excellent game and showed just how good he is.” The former Juve player concluded.
French midfielder Adrien Rabiot had an influential game in the heart of Juve’s midfield.
“It was a very important match and we’re pleased because we showed we’re a different team to the one that played Inter in the league.
“We still have the return leg to play and it’s going to be even harder than today. We’ll have need another great performance like this one tonight.” The Frenchman concluded.
