The hosts took the lead after Cristian Romero scored an own goal, in the first half. Captain Son Heung Min equalized for the visitors just before half time.

Bukayo Saka scored from the penalty spot in the second half to regain the lead for Arsenal. However, a defensive lapse saw Son Heung Min equalize for Spurs just moments later.

“Credit to the lads, I thought we were outstanding today against a top team, at a difficult venue,” the Australian coach said

“We had to work our way into the game, and I thought we showed all elements of it. When we had to defend, I thought we defended really well, we played our football and when it didn’t work, we persisted, which was great, all underpinned by a strong work ethic and outstanding character.

“It’s not everything for us, but when you come to a difficult venue against a top team, you know that you are not going to control the game or dominate the game for 100 minutes.  There were times where we had to be really strong and resilient, I thought guys like Romero, Vicario, Bissouma, they all stood up in those critical moments.

“Then, when we got a foothold in the game, I thought our football was outstanding because, again, you’re playing a top team and our possession, working our way through and then we had the quality in the front third to capitalise.” He added.
