Kaizer Chiefs beat Orlando Pirates 1-0 in the DSTV Premiership on Saturday afternoon. Head coach Arthur Zwane was thrilled to be on the winning side of this encounter.
The only goal of the game came in extraordinary fashion. Midfielder Yusuf Maart scored from his own half, past a flailing Siyabonga Mpontshane.
That goal will go down as probably the greatest ever Soweto Derby goal, if not, it will certainly be up there.
“Look, we knew it was going to be a tough one,” Zwane told SuperSport TV.
“But when I look at the first half, we had two clear cut chances, unfortunately we couldn’t take them. Like it’s always been.
“Like I said, if we can be clinical, we can torture a lot of teams. Tactically, I think we planned very well.
“The guys went in there and executed the plan, I must give the credit to them. But I must also give credit to Orlando Pirates, for not allowing us time and space on the ball at some point.
“But we always knew that as long as they play [a] high line, we would catch them at some point.” He expressed.
With the win, Amakhosi have now leapfrogged The Buccaneers on the league table. Arthur Zwane Happy to Win First Soweto Derby as Coach!
