Bafana Bafana Camp Suffers Two More Positive Covid-19 Results! South Africa’s Cosafa Cup squad has had an indifferent time thus far.
Bafana Bafana have not had all squad and coaching staff members available for them throughout the tournament. To more members in the squad have tested positive for the coronavirus.
Physiotherapist Nhlanhla Ndlovu and winger Masilake Phohlongo have both tested positive for covid-19.
“At this stage of the tournament to be without key members of the team is unfortunate.” Team Dr Tshepo Molobi explained.
“We have come so far as a unit, and it does cause destabilization. However, we do know that there are measures already tried and tested in place, to ensure that the rest of the team stays safe to focus on the rest of the journey and that those who are sick get the care and treatment they need.” He spoke.
The competition ends on Sunday (18 July 2021), so these two members will see their tournament come to an early end.
This is quite disappointing as team coach Helman Mkhalele had only returned from isolation himself, after suffering the same fate. This was alongside goalkeeper coach Lucky Shiburi.
The duo has returned to first team duties. They will be without mercurial winger Masilake Phohlongo and physiotherapist Nhlanhla Ndlovu.
South Africa faces Mozambique in the semi-finals this afternoon. The winner will progress to the tournament final on Sunday.
