Bafana Bafana Ready For Angola
Bafana Bafana set a new record for the South African national team on Saturday following their victory over Guinea-Bissau.Owen da Gama’s troops beat the African Wild Dogs 3-1 with goals from Kermit Erasmus, Percy Tau and Andile Jali, making it 16 games without a defeat as they bettered the record set between 1994 and 1996 by the eventual Africa Cup of Nations champions.
The breaking of the 21-year-old record is thanks to Shakes Mashaba, Thabo Senong and Da Gama, all of whom have taken charge of games during the run that started back in October of 2015. Bafana went the entirety of 2016 without losing a game.
There have been youth sides and ‘B’ teams that have turned out for Bafana since the first win over Angola, however, it is the squad that beat Guinea-Bissau and faces Angola today that has excited people the most. Bafana Bafana have faced Angola on 12 occasions, winning eight times and drawing three matches while losing only once. Bafana are out to win for the ninth time against Angola tonight.
