Banyana Banyana Forward Thembi Kgatlana Joins Spanish Giants Atletico Madrid! The South African forward has enjoyed a lovely time in Spain since arriving last year.
Thembi Kgatlana has joined Spanish giants Atletico Madrid on a free transfer. Kgatlana was available to sign after her contract with fellow Spanish side SD Eibar had come to an end.
The Banyana Banyana striker joined SD Eibar at the beginning of last season. She scored goals and provided assists, which attracted the attention of other teams.
“I am very happy to arrive at Atletico de Madrid. As a soccer player you always dream of playing in the best clubs,” Kgatlana told the club’s media department.
“My first goal is to be a team player and work hard for the team. I’m very happy to be able to join you soon, I can’t wait to meet you all.”
Atletico is the 5th international team which Kgatlana has represented. She has played in the United States of America, China and in Portugal before.
She has represented Houston Dash in America, Beijing BJ Phoenix in China and SL Benfica in Portugal. Her experience in Spain came with former side SD Eibar.
