Baroka FC Coach Wedson Nyirenda Confirms Resignation
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Wedson Nyirenda has resigned from his post as coach of Absa Premiership side Baroka FC in the wake of the club’s 1-0 loss to Stellenbosch FC on Saturday.
The Zambian coach has decided to call it quits with the club winless in nine home games this season and just a point above the relegation zone.
Nyirenda would however not be drawn on whether that move informed his decision.
“Yes‚ have I resigned‚” Nyirenda told TimesLIVE.
“But I think for now I cannot comment much‚ I just felt it was time to leave. I will give a comprehensive statement later on.”
Bakgaga currently sit in 14th place in the league‚ just a point above the relegation zone‚ and with four draws and five defeats from their nine home games.
The 53-year old Nyirenda leaves the Limpopo outfit having handed the club their first major trophy in top flight football when they won the Telkom Knockout final against Orlando Pirates in 2018.
Nyirenda oversaw 51 games for Bakgaga yielding 12 wins, 18 draws and 21 defeats in all competitions.
Nyirenda only managed five wins at home during his tenure, which ultimately proved his downfall.
