Battle between Shakes Mashaba and SAFA begins today
Former Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba begins his battle with the South African Football Association today to fight unfair dismissal, for a position he held a little over two years.
According to his representative Claudio Bollo, Mashaba is very delighted that the case which was referred to the CCMA is finally getting underway today.
Mashaba age 66, who’s R500 000 contract was due to run until mid 2018 was cut after he was found guilty of gross misconduct, gross insubordination and violating the communications policy of SAFA.
The process starts with what is called the conciliation with a mediator. The two parties must try to find a common ground and see if they can reach an agreement. If both parties are unhappy with the results of the case, it will be taken to arbitration.
SAFA believes that they have done everything by the book, and the matter may even pass arbitration and go further if they are not happy with the outcome.
Mashaba’s legal team has asked SAFA not to appoint a new coach until the matter is resolved.
The football governing body released a statement last month saying that they will conform an appointment of a new coach next month.
