Battle lines drawn for Soweto derby
The stage is now set for South Africa’s biggest league encounter this weekend.
Orlando Pirates head into this afternoon’s meeting against Kaizer Chiefs with a poor home record. The Sea Robbers have picked up just 8 points from 6 six games, a record very uncharacteristic of Pirates.
In contrast, Kaizer Chiefs have a healthy away record having picked up 11 points in 7 encounters on the road.
Pirates and Chiefs both head into today’s encounter nursing wounds of a defeat form their last encounters. The Bucaneers slumped to a 1-0 loss at the hands of Jomo Cosmos while the Glamour Boys crashed to a 2-1 defeat to Platinum Stars last weekend.
Statistics aside Saturday’s Soweto derby promises lots of excitement as a battle for the bragging rights comes to the fore at the Orlando stadium. Kick off is at 3:30 pm South African time.
