Benfica Claim First Leg Advantage with Win Over Club Brugge! The Portuguese giants have won to give themselves a healthy lead.

Benfica defeated Club Brugge 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League last night. The healthy margin has put them well on their way to the next round of the tournament.

Benfica have it all to lose in the second leg, with the advantage that they have given themselves. Goals came from Joao Pedro and David Neres.

“I think you’re right,” Club Brugge head coach Scott Parker told UEFA. 

“Overall, of course a 2-0 defeat is not something you want but I think the overriding factor tonight is that I’m proud of every single member of my team here. We knew the challenge we knew the opposition we’re playing against are a very, very good side with big quality in any moment.

“In the first half I liked us. I though we were an aggressive, brave team with the ball that executed in moments to cause the opposition problems.

“Of course, we are [looking forward to the second leg in Lisbon]. This is why we’re here. These are the challenges you live for, to be quite with you. These occasions.

“What we have is a massive challenge ahead, but like always, in football its an opportunity for us to go there and try to give the best of ourselves to see if we can get a result.” He concluded.
