Benfica Thump Club Brugge to Advance in The UEFA Champions League! The Portuguese giants have made it to the next stage.

Benfica defeated Club Brugge 5-1 in the UEFA Champions League last night. They are now in the last 8 of the competition.

It was a complete rout for the Portuguese giants as Scott Parker and Club Brugge were punished for their naivety in both legs. Rafa Silva opened the scoring for the hosts.

Goncalo Ramos doubled their lead before halftime, with the striker adding in his second in the next stanza. Joao Mario and David Neres also netted.

Meijer scored a consolation goal for the Belgians in stunning fashion.

“We showed from the beginning we wanted to win.” Rafa Silva told UEFA.

“Despite having a two-goal cushion, we approached the game with that aim, and we did it. We have dreamed from the very start of this campaign and will keep on doing it until the end.” He added.

“It seemed easy, but it was nothing like that. We worked to the limit, we played our game, and, with the quality of our football, we made the task easier.” Striker Goncalo Ramos spoke.

“We had a lot of respect for Brugge, and we are already focused on the next round. To score? It’s always good, a striker like me makes a living from that, but the most important thing was that we won and played well.”
