Benni McCarthy Proud of AmaZulu Despite Conceding Late Goal! Usuthu dropped two points to Amakhosi on Saturday afternoon.

AmaZulu drew 1-1 with Kaizer Chiefs in the DSTV Premiership over the weekend. Head coach Benni McCarthy was left pleased with the display of his team on the day.

Luvuyo Memela gave the hosts the lead in the game. However, what looked like victory was snatched away in the dying embers of the game.

Referee Jelly Chavani gave Amakhosi a very controversial penalty in the 93^rd minute of the game. Keagan Dolly scored the penalty to secure a point for Chiefs.

The Usuthu head coach did not want to speculate about the awarding of the penalty.

“That’s football for you.” McCarthy said to SuperSport TV after the draw.

“You have to play until the final whistle, and we didn’t and unfortunately we get one point.

“My boys did what they had to do. Complete dominance of the game.

“Controlled every situation. Chiefs had to revert to playing long balls and crosses.

“The mobility that we have we try and get in behind their midfield and then we try use the speed of Maduna, Memela and Ceesay and Ntuli.

“We got some joy from it, and I think after going 1-0 up Memela had another chance. You do not put these chances away then you will always leave yourself exposed, like we did in the last minute.

“Penalty against us. One point. Not that for which we were hoping.

“Kaizer Chiefs are a big team, big players, they play until the final whistle.

“We have to be content with one point. We move on.

“We go into the international break. Give the players a bit of a rest and then focus on our next fixture in the CAF Champions League.” He added.
