Bernard Parker Pays Homage To His Family
Bernard Parker Pays Homage To His Family. Seeing his contract not being renewed at Kaizer Chiefs is surely not what he expected after giving his all in the past 11 years he spent at Naturena. But to distract his mind, Bernard Parker has been spending time with family and it looks like they go out more often.
He recently posted a picture of himself, wife, his grown boys, and some unknown family members. His oldest son looks even bigger than him, that’s how grown he is. Parker must be a proud father and he wrote a lovely message appreciating the love he gets from them.
“As old as you get, you’ll never find a love as genuine as something you get in your own family,” the 36-year-old said on Instagram.
“Family love is more unconditional than any friendships and memories out there,” he wrote on his Instagram account.
The 36-year-old recently opened up about leaving Kaizer Chiefs and was clear that it was yet to sink in. Speaking to Simtho Dladla and Mike Makaab (his agent) on Gagasi FM Extra Time, he reflected on highs and lows at Chiefs.
“I have fought through many struggles, the Club (Kaizer Chiefs) has given me a huge responsibility of leading the club by being Captain, it’s been a beautiful journey,” he said.
“During the tough times when the team wasn’t doing well, I was the one who was targeted the most, I had to delete my social media accounts so I could focus on myself and my game.
During Gavin Hunt’s time, Parker nearly left Amakhosi but he was given another contract after showing so much effort. With Itumeleng Khune having injuries at the time, he was also given the armband as many within the team believed in him.
“Most of the players in the team believed in me so I felt that I had to reward them by giving my best in training and the matches. The criticism became normal for me, and I used it as motivation.
“I had some good highs at Chiefs, some were prolonged and some were short-lived, which include becoming the clubs all time leading scorer in the PSL Era, and playing in 30 Soweto derbies.
“I wouldn’t say I have accepted it (leaving Chiefs) but football is a business so I understand that sometimes decisions are not based on what you can give but what the club wants, I had the maturity to understand that.
His agent also confirmed that in the next two weeks, Parker’s future will be decided at Chiefs. A few years ago, former Bafana Bafana talisman obtained a higher certificate in sports marketing at Boston College.
