Bongani Zungu Does Not Feature as Rangers Drop Points!
Bongani Zungu Does Not Feature as Rangers Drop Points! The Scottish side drew 3-3 away to Benfica in the Europa League last night. Bongani Zungu still has not featured for his new side.
The South African international is lacking the match fitness that his teammates replicate. It seems as if Steven Gerrard remains reluctant to play Bongani Zungu in his current physical condition.
Rangers were 3-1 up against a 10-man side at one point in the game. They failed to hold on to their 2 goal and 1-man advantage.
A 91st minute equaliser from Benfica meant that the spoils were shared in the game.
“We started poorly and conceded a poor goal and then obviously the red card helped us a lot and we played some really good football to get ourselves 3-1 in front,” Steven Gerrard told the media.
“To draw the game from that position is very disappointing.
“I think it was a matter of game management, I don’t think we managed the game well at all at 3-1, certainly out of possession.
“We just needed to keep good positions, control and order on the pitch, but we lost control and we have ourselves to blame.
“We conceded two poor goals and we also missed two or three big chances at the other end, so we got what we deserved. At 3-1 we didn’t do enough to get over the line.” Steven Gerrard concluded.
