Botswana Left-Back Mangolo Eyes Betway Premiership Move After CAF Showings

A Botswana international left-back, known simply as Mangolo, has arrived in South Africa in pursuit of a dream move to the Betway Premiership, following his release from Tanzanian side Singida Stars. The 26-year-old is a free agent and is eager to secure a deal ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Mangolo, who most recently featured against Orlando Pirates in the CAF Champions League, has been training in South Africa as part of his quest to break into top-flight football. His appearances in both legs of the Champions League clash against the Soweto giants have helped raise his profile within the region.
The versatile left-back began the current campaign with Jwaneng Galaxy before making a mid-season switch to Mochudi Centre Chiefs. Before that, he had been on loan at Galaxy from Singida Stars, a Tanzanian Premier League outfit. However, his contract with Singida Stars has since been terminated, paving the way for him to explore new opportunities as a free agent.
In addition to his club commitments, Mangolo has been active on the international stage. He was last seen representing Botswana’s national team, The Zebras, during the March FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Algeria and Somalia.
Mangolo is primarily deployed as a left-back but is also capable of playing on the left side of a back three, adding tactical flexibility to any defensive setup. His ability to perform at continental level, coupled with his national team experience, makes him an attractive option for Premiership clubs looking to bolster their squad without incurring transfer fees.
Johannesburg-based football agent Rui Frois, who is working with the player, confirmed his presence in South Africa. “He is in the country and has been training with our boys while we consider his options,” Frois said. “We have already been talking to a few clubs because we want to make use of the fact that he is a free agent. The last contract was in Tanzania, and he has been back home on loan deals.”
At 26, Mangolo is entering his peak years and remains determined to take the next step in his career. His recent exposure against one of South Africa’s top clubs in continental competition could serve as the ideal springboard into the domestic top flight. With the transfer window open and clubs actively scouting for value signings, Mangolo’s mix of international experience, positional versatility, and match fitness may soon earn him the long-awaited break in the Betway Premiership.
