Brandon Petersen is one of 9 new players at Kaizer Chiefs this season. Having previously played for Ajax Cape Town and Bidvest Wits, he is honoured to join a team of Chiefs’ stature.

Petersen made his Amakhosi debut against Orlando Pirates in the Carling Black Label Cup last week Sunday (1 August 2021). He came on for Itumeleng Khune in the second half of the game.

He saved two penalties and was the hero for Chiefs as they won the game.

“As a footballer in South Africa, you want to play for one of the big teams.” Petersen told the Kaizer Chiefs media department.

“So, when I received a call from my agent to say that Kaizer Chiefs is interested, it was a great feeling. It was amazing, it was good to know that I would be part of a brand like Kaizer Chiefs.

“Coming here as a goalkeeper you know there’s a rich history of goalkeepers. Just being part of that is a huge honour for me.

“My family and everyone are excited for me, as they always are no matter where I go. For me, it is a huge privilege to be part of this team and I am looking forward to the seasons ahead,” he lamented.

Kaizer Chiefs have boasted some of the best goalkeepers in the history of South African football. They have produced iconic names such as Brian Baloyi, Gary Bailey and Itumeleng Khune.
