Brandon Truter Believes AmaZulu Have a Lot to Work On! Usuthu lost to The Chilli Boys this past weekend.
AmaZulu lost 2-1 at home to Chippa United in the DSTV Premiership on Saturday afternoon. Head coach Brandon Truter was extremely disappointed in the performance of his own team.
Going into the match, Usuthu were the huge favourites to claim all three points. This is because of the coaching drama which had been taking place at Chippa United in the week preceding that game.
Daine Klate was fired with Morgan Mammila taking over as interim coach. The coaching credentials of Mammila were severely questioned ahead of the encounter.
The visitors took the lead through an emphatic Roscoe Pietersen penalty. Defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box.
Azola Matrose extended the lead for the Chilli Boys. Veluyeke Zulu scored a consolidation goal for AmaZulu.
“There are so many things to work on going forward, especially with the Sundowns match coming as well,” Truter said to the media after the match.
“I’m not happy with some of the performances, but we will see where we can fine-tune it. I keep preaching about mentality, and the will to win.
“If the mentality is not right heading to the game and disrespecting the opponent, you’ll always get a reaction and the reaction we got today was a goal down.
“There’s a lot to work on. The majority of the guys on the park are experienced players, so there are certain situations they can and should have managed better.”
Striker Augustine Kwem received a red card late into stoppage time.
“I hate losing but I do not mind losing when there’s a good performance and effort from everyone.
“I just feel like some of us didn’t give effort, even the red card of Augustine Kwem was a bit emotional. He lost control of his emotions that is what you do not want in a game.” He concluded.
