Brandon Truter Cites Fatigue for Performance Against Kaizer Chiefs! Usuthu played out to a stalemate against Amakhosi on the weekend.
AmaZulu drew 0-0 away to Kaizer Chiefs in the DSTV Premiership on Saturday evening. Head coach Brandon Truter said that they have played many matches in a short space of time.
Fixture congestion has been somewhat of an issue for some PSL teams this season. This is due to playing an average of two matches every week.
Before playing Amakhosi, Usuthu played 120 minutes against Cape Town City in the MTN 8 a week before. Truter has said that this has allowed fatigue to creep into his players.
“Look it’s a point away from home, at the same time saying that playing this amount of games” Truter told SuperSport TV after the win.
“No rest in between, ja we can say we had more rest but there was 120 minutes we played and the same eleven that started the game, started this game as well.
“And with the fatigue, the niggles, and the injuries we always going to get a below par performance here and there.
“With that load you dilute the product at the end you understand. Yes, Chiefs played well, it’s their home game, they need a win, they need to get going.
“So, for us it’s away from home, it’s a point, we’ll manage it but the amount of fatigue and the weight [load] coming at the moment it’s ridiculous.
“It’s for everybody ja but the guys not playing, the commentators can say it’s for everybody but we’re not dealing with robots,” he continued.
“And machines break as well, this is human beings that we’re dealing with, every three days running ten kilometres in a game, 12 kilometres, 15 kilometres against Cape Town City every three days.
“I don’t think even the Comrades runners can do that, so I feel for the boys that’s why I’m happy that no major injuries today as well, but we have to manage this, and we’ll see who we have available in our next game.” He concluded.
