Brandon Truter Laments Lack of Quality in Final Third! The Dube Birds drew their 17th league game of the season.
Swallows FC drew 1-1 with Kaizer Chiefs in the DSTV Premiership. Coach Brandon Truter believes his side failed to display any quality when it mattered.
Kagiso Malinga gave Swallows the lead before Leonardo Castro equalised. After this, it was a game of few opportunities with both sides stifling each other.
“The goal we conceded it was just poor reaction from us in the penalty area,” Truter told SuperSport after the game.
“We weren’t at our best so yes people will say it’s another draw but teams around us have been losing. We’re gaining a point.
“Bit frustrating. We could have done better.
“We weren’t at our optimal level. Even our centre-backs I think the job was easy for them against Castro.
“Even when Nurkovic came on as well. The lack of quality in the final third is what let us down.
“Decision making when we wanted to bring that ball out, when we wanted to go to the wings as well. We forced it a little bit and then gave possession away cheaply.
“That played right into their favour because they played with a low block and they wanted to come out on the counter. We knew what they wanted to do.
“On our side, we didn’t implement our plan.
“We scored first. On so many occasions we have scored first.
“But we know what needs to be done. Unfortunately, we’re in a period where we can’t do much.
“We have to weather the storm. We have to plug the gaps.
“Vuyo now with the hamstring. At his age he has played 25 games this season.
“Defence is a bit fragile. We’re leaking the odd goal and that’s what is costly at the moment.
“We know where we’re going. It’s now 25 games where we’ve scored in each and every game.
“I know where you’re pointing. It’s something to work towards.
“We’re coming to the end of the league. We have to make do with what we have.
“We have to rectify it in training. And then I’m positive that we’ll get it right.” Truter concluded.
