The Cityzens lost Dutch goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh to Eredivisie side FC Groningen before the previous season even ended. They have now restored parity in the goalkeeping department.

“Bongani joins new signing Darren Keet, as we prepare the new goalkeeping department for 2021/22!”

This was today, a day after confirming the signing of Keet.

“Cape Town City are delighted to announce the signing of South African goalkeeper Darren Keet on a three year deal. The protector of the mother city has arrived!” the excited club tweeted yesterday.

“Looking at my future plans, Cape Town was a good place to start, and obviously the opportunity arose,” Keet told the media upon his unveiling.

“I want to a part of something big, I want to part of something extra special.

“Since I was young, one of the only things I’ve wanted to achieve was to be the best goalkeeper in South Africa. I’ve won all the trophies, I’ve had the experience of winning the PSL before, I definitely want more.
