Bernard Parker Keen to Play More Matches as A Striker! The Kaizer Chiefs veteran scored against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN 8 last weekend.

Bernard Parker was happy to find himself in a scoring position over the weekend. He says that he still possesses that ‘Bernard Parker’ instinct which made him such a famed goal scorer.

In previous seasons and under different head coaches, Parker transitioned into a midfielder. He was involved in developing the play, other than finishing off moves.

Last season he scored for the first time in two years against Wydad Casablanca. He has scored on the first game of the new season.

“I played higher up in this game, as a striker.” He told the Kaizer Chiefs website

“In previous games I’ve played as a midfielder and couldn’t get into scoring positions, trying more to construct and consolidate build up play to get the team up to an attacking phase.

“This time I was playing higher as a striker. With the Bernard Parker instinct I have, I kept trying to find myself in good positions.

“When the ball came, I was in a good position to put it away. It was a good feeling.

“I would like to add more goals if I keep playing in a higher position. But wherever the coach will put me, every time you see Bernard Parker, he will give his 120% for the team,” he exclaimed.

Under Stuart Baxter in his previous reign, Parker was a notorious goal scorer for Kaizer Chiefs. He helped Amakhosi to two ABSA Premiership titles, an MTN 8 trophy and Nedbank Cup trophy.
