Caster Semenya Celebrates Birthday & Wedding Anniversary
Olympic and world 800m champion Caster Semenya celebrate her 29th birthday and third wedding anniversary with her wife Violet Raseboya on the 7th of January.
The Olympic gold medalist married Violet in a beautiful white wedding ceremony in January 2017.
Semenya tweeted: “Today makes it 3 years since we said yes and it has been a blessing, thank you @ledile_violet_s for being you for me, may God bless us.”
The athlete also revealed that she was celebrating her 29th birthday.
The pair started dating in 2007 after an awkward encounter in a bathroom where Raseboya a sprinter at the time asked what a “boy” was doing in there and Semenya responded that he was not a boy.
Violet shared a picture on Instagram from their wedding to mark their anniversary.
Away from her personal life, the star runner experienced a very challenging 2019 that in a way was life-changing to her career prospects.
In May she was blocked from competing at the World Championships in Doha after the IAAF stood firm behind a new ruling that mandated athletes with hyperandrogenism to reduce their testosterone levels in order to compete.
The rule change was introduced because the governing body felt that female athletes, like Semenya have a “competitive advantage”.
