Chairman Kaizer Motaung remembers Matlooane

“He was a soft spoken person,” Chairman Kaizer Motaung remembers Michael Matlooane who passed away this week, “we used to call him Bra Mike. It is sad to bid ultimate farewell to one of the longest serving members in football.”

Mr Matlooane passed away this week. “He was a methodical person and carried his duties with diligence,” recalls Motaung, “he is one of the highly disciplined members that have graced our football.”

Mr Matlooane is described as one of the longest servants of South African football. He was the longest serving secretary of the Johannesburg Football Association. He served as the Secretary General of South African National Football Association (SANFA).

“Bra Mike also served as the longest member in the Premier Soccer Disciplinary Committee,” recalls Motaung, “football benefitted immensely from his skills. He will be sorely missed.”

I wish the family will find comfort in the legacy that Bra Mike is leaving behind. I trust that family will strengthened through the Good Book with Psalms 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

On behalf of Kaizer Chiefs I wish to convey my deepest heartfelt condolences to the Matlooane family and friends.

May his soul rest in the eternal peace.
