Thabang Monare Says They Are Taking It One Match at A Time! The Buccaneers play against The Cityzens this weekend.

Orlando Pirates host Cape Town City in the DSTV Premiership on Saturday afternoon. Midfielder Thabang Monare insists that they are focused on their objectives.

The Buccaneers are the frontrunners to finish in second place and claim the last remaining position in next season’s CAF Champions League. They are also in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup, where they will face Kaizer Chiefs.

But Monare doesn’t want to focus on all of that, as that will prove to be a distraction. Right now, their only focus is on Cape Town City.

“We don’t want to lose focus at all because that can jeopardise our chances of achieving our objectives,” Monare told Sowetan ahead of the encounter.

“The only way to avoid losing focus at this stage is to take it one game at a time. Whenever we talk as a team these days, we place great emphasis on only thinking about the task at hand.

“Now our focus is on Cape Town City, nothing else. We will start thinking about the Nedbank Cup when we start the week of the game [against Chiefs],” he spoke.

The last time these two sides faced each other it was The Cityzens who won 2-1, back in January.

“We are a big team, and we know that City will be determined to complete a double over us after beating us in Cape Town in the first round. We have to avoid losing to them again.

“A team of Pirates’ magnitude must not allow teams to complete doubles over them, so we must defend our dignity at all costs. We are not motivated by revenge but what is important to us is to win to maintain our momentum.”

Kick-off at the Orlando Stadium is at 15h00. Thabang Monare Says They Are Taking It One Match at A Time!
