Check Out the Weight loss & Fitness Journey of Itumeleng Khune! The Amakhosi shot stopper made headlines with his return this weekend.
Itumeleng Khune started his first PSL match in just over a year against Stellenbosch this weekend. Look at the fitness journey he undertook since being shunned out last year.
Khune’s last appearance was in the MTN 8 quarterfinal against Mamelodi Sundowns last season. He made a mockery of himself after conceding a comical goal to Peter Shalulile and Kennedy Mweene on penalties.
The biggest issue for fans was Itu’s weight. He was wildly out of shape, and Stuart Baxter had no intention of playing the veteran.
There were calls to have him sold or moved onto a technical position, as he would offer nothing on the football field.
However, Itu made it a point to get back into shape. He spent all last season in vigorous training. The results of which have shown.
Yesterday, he produced a decisive display for Amakhosi. He stopped two penalties to help his team make it to the next round of the MTN 8.
“I think if my memory serves me well, he kept us in the game,” Zwane said of Khune after the match.
“He made a very good save, even though apart from hitting the upright and the post, they didn’t have many clearcut chances. It’s good to have him back and we’re looking forward to see the Itu that showed the hunger.”
He will be hoping to keep his place in the Amakhosi starting XI. Check Out the Weight loss & Fitness Journey of Itumeleng Khune!
