Chiefs to bring in reinforcements.
After releasing seven players last week Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to bring in reinforcements.
The chairman Kaizer Motaung feels the team’s defense let them down this season, and hinted at a bringing in new faces to reinforce the backline ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
Amakhosi conceded 28 goals in 30 games in the 2016/17 Absa Premiership season, an average of almost a goal per game. The Soweto giants finished a disappointing fourth at the end of the season.
“Our defense has not done us any good in terms of performance this season. They’ve actually dropped a bit,” Motaung said.
“We might be [getting new players in defence], as to be honest, with some of our players, you can see the legs are gone. So we can’t wait until reality kicks in.”
After turning 23 in April, Lorenzo Gordinho was the youngest defender for Chiefs, with the rest of the defensive players all over the age of 25.
Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Erick Mathoho, Sibusiso Khumalo and Kgotso Moleko are all 27, Daniel Cardoso is turning 29 while Tsepo Masilela is the oldest backline player at 32.
