Chippa United and Stellenbosch Share Points in Frustrating Goalless Premiership Clash

Chippa United and Stellenbosch FC played out a 0-0 stalemate in a Betway Premiership encounter at Buffalo City Municipality Stadium on Sunday evening. Both teams, fighting to move away from the relegation zone, struggled to convert chances despite several opportunities throughout the 90 minutes.
Stellenbosch dominated early possession, controlling the ball and probing Chippa’s defense. However, it was Chippa who created the first real opportunity when Kerwin Peters fired from distance, only to see his effort blocked. Ashley Cupido and Thato Khiba led Stellenbosch’s attacking efforts, but the visitors struggled to finish their forward moves effectively.
Chippa countered with Seun Ndlovu and Ayabulela Konqobe creating promising chances in the first half. The home side had the better attacking opportunities during the opening 45 minutes but could not break the deadlock.
Following the break, the tempo remained high. Devin Titus and Khiba pushed forward for Stellenbosch, while Sirgio Kammies and Konqobe tested the visitors’ goalkeeper with saved efforts. In the 67th minute, Mozumuhle Khanyi came close for Stellenbosch with a close-range header, but his effort narrowly missed. Chippa responded by making tactical substitutions, bringing on Xolani Sithole and Bienvenu Eva Nga to inject energy into their attack.
Stellenbosch coach Steve Barker also rotated his squad, introducing Khomotjo Lekoloane and Chumani Butsaka as the match approached the final stages. Despite late efforts from both sides, finishing errors and tight defending ensured that neither team found the net.
The stalemate leaves Chippa United in 16th place on the Betway Premiership table, while Stellenbosch climbs to 14th following the draw. The match highlighted both sides’ attacking intent but emphasized finishing deficiencies, resulting in a shared point for each team.
