Chippa United In Smash & Grab Against Black Leopards

Chippa United struck in the dying stages, with virtually the last kick of the game to return to winning ways in the Absa Premiership with a 2-1 win over Black Leopards at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Wednesday.

Norman Mapeza’s outfit broke Cavin Johnson and Black Leopards hearts right at the death when Silas Maziya pounced on sloppy defending to put Chippa two points off eighth spot Maritzburg United.

Chippa were looking to rediscover the form that saw them collect 13 out of a possible 15 points in a five-match unbeaten run only halted by a weekend loss to Polokwane City in their opening game of the new year.

Thabo Rakhale gave Chippa a dream start with a perfect finish straight from kickoff. 

Lidoda Duvha drew level after Lesedi Kapinga made use of poor defending in the danger area to beat Veli Mothwa on 55 minutes. Kapinga has now registered five league goals this season.

Leopards coach Cavin Johnson who started his reign with a defeat to Highlands Park iremains in search of his first victory since taking over the position vacated by Belgian Luc Eymael.
