Croatia Share Spoils with Wales in UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifiers! The Croats could only muster up a draw against The Dragons.

Croatia drew 1-1 at home to Wales in their UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifiers. They conceded in the dying embers to finish the game in a stalemate.

The Croats finished the 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign in third position, defeating Morocco in the ¾ playoff. They were hoping to continue where they had left off, in their first match since Qatar.

Andrej Kramaric opened the scoring for Croatia in the first half. Wales equalised in stoppage time through midfielder Nathan Broadhead.

“It’s a shock to concede in the final moments, but that’s life.” Croatia head coach Zlatko Dalic told UEFA.

“Sometimes you win, sometimes you don’t. We had a situation in which we could have scored a second goal and we should have settled it then.

“We didn’t, and then we conceded a goal from their only way they create chances” he added.

In the end, Croatia was made to rue the chances they failed to take in the encounter.

“We started well, we scored and had chances to score again. And when you don’t score from your chances… we conceded that goal after a throw-in in the final moments.

“We didn’t want a start like this but there are lot of matches and I think we will compensate for this.”

“The feeling is like we won. The boys deserved this: they played against a very, very good team. We were disciplined and we followed the plan.” Wales coach Rob Page stated.

“Modrić is an absolute legend. The level he plays on, and also the rest of their team… but we gave everything we had. That’s our discipline and hard work.” He added.
