Daine Klate: “This Is A Perfect Opportunity For Pirates”
Daine Klate the current Bidvest Wits midfilder and former Orlando Pirates player who has previously played in Pirates team that went all the way to the finals of CAF champions league in 2013. Pirates lost 3-1 on aggregate in the Final after a one-all draw at Orlando Stadium on 2nd of November 2013 before Al-Ahly won 2-0 at Arab Contractors Stadium in the return leg a week later.
Nevertheless, the 30 year old Bidvest Wits midfielder told KickOff that things have changed since then, especially with the playing style of the Egyptian giants, and he believes that buccaneers can get their revenge in the Confederations Cup semi-final second leg match at New Suez Stadium, after the first leg semi-final encounter 1-0 win at Orlando Stadium on September 26.
“Al-Ahly have changed a bit since Pirates played them two years ago with some players retiring and at the moment Zamalek is dominating the Egyptian League so this is a perfect opportunity for Pirates,” said Klate
“They are going there with a 1-0 lead and they kept a clean sheet at home, so it is an advantage for Pirates. The only thing is Al-Ahly are tactically very disciplined and if Pirates can match them in terms of tactical discipline, I think they stand a very, very good chance.
“But they must not be naïve and they must stick to the game plan; keep the shape and learn from the past,” he says.
